Dr. Nicola (“Nico”) Volpe, obtained his primary medical degree from the University of Rome "La Sapienza" in Italy and he completed his postgraduate training in anaesthesia and intensive care medicine in prestigious academic departmens in Italy, USA and in the United Kingdom.

He has been Lecturer in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine at the University of London, St. Bartholomew’s Hospital for 2 years.

Since 1990 he has held consultant posts in University Hospitals and academic specialist units in Italy and the United Kingdom being also employed in department’s managerial roles. He has over 30 years experience in clinical anaesthesia and intensive care medicine. He has been invited in his long career as a speaker at several international anaesthesia and intensive care medicine congresses. He is employed in the National Health Service as a Consultant Anaesthetist at North Bristol NHS Trust.
